Skin is the last layer between ourselves and the world around us. It’s so personal and intimate, storing the memories of the touch of our loved ones, showing the scars of our failures. Skin, despite it’s unique and individual nature, is at the same time universal, being a ‘material’ that covers all of us. The texts ‘Ab uno disce omnis’ (From a single instance infer the whole) and ‘Homo est minor mundus’ (A man is a little universe) are folded into the humongous magnified prints of skin, as an imprint to remind us of the message. This work explores the tension between visual perception and material properties. SKIN Experimental type project A collaborative project with Alessio Segala / 2016
